Former candidate Gov Zamfara, Shinkafi, escapes the assassination in Abuja

An ex -candidate for the Governorate in the state of Zamfara and head of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkofi, on Friday he escaped an attempt to assassination in Abuja.

Shinkafi, who confirmed the accident, said he was attacked shortly after observing Juma’At prayers while returning home.

According to him, a group of heavily armed and masked men dressed in black intercepted his vehicle and opened the fire before fleeing a jeep of Prado Black and not marked.

The politician, who once contested the headquarters of the Governorate of Zamfara, described the attack as a clear attempt on his life, connecting him to his strong position on insecurity and governance in the north-western region.

In a declaration issued through the Patriots for the progress of peace and social development, Shinkafi said that the plot was designed to silence it.

“This was an attempt not caused for my life. I received several threat calls this week and I think they are connected to my position on Zamfara insecurity and my request for peace, unity and national development. But I will not be intimidated,” he said.

He invited the police inspector, Kayode Egbetokun, and the general manager of the Department of State Services (DSS) to immediately launch an investigation into the accident, arrest the authors and express their sponsors.
