A special survey of Platform Times revealed that about 80 % of the eligible voters in the federal electoral college remained far from the last supplementary elections in the state of Ogun, leaving only a fifth of the electorate to launch their votes.

The supplementary elections, which were held on Saturday through Sagamu, Ikenne and Remo North Local Government areas, followed the death of the deceased Whit Deputy Chief of the House of Representatives, Mrs. Adwunmi Onanoga, who died in a hospital in London in January 2025.

Despite being one of the 12 States in which the independent national electoral commission (Iner) has conducted secondary elections, Ogun’s exercise was failed by large -scale violence, a voting and intimidation of voters.

According to the data obtained from the inc through the sheet of results signed by the return officer, Prof. Kazeem Bello, 288,005 voters were recorded in the three LGA. However, only 58,156 people (20 percent) proved to vote.

From this figure, the valid votes expressed were 56,588, which represent only 19.9 percent of the total voters recorded.

A rupture of the figures showed the following: IKENS LGA: 67.721 registered, but only 17,477 voted; Remo North LGA: 48,758 registered, but only 9,374 voted; egAgamu LGA: 168,526 registered, but only 32,574 voted.

At the end of the exercise, Prof. Bello said Adeola Elegbeji of the winner of All Progressives Congress (APC) with 41,237 votes.

It was followed by the candidate of the Democratic Party Peoples (PDP), who probed 14,324 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) managed only 271 votes.

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) data put the total population of the electoral college at 739,400 starting from 2022. The projections of the population based on the 2006 census:

Sagamu: 435,200 residents; IKenne: 202,600 residents e Remo North: 101,600 residents

Using the NBS projection according to which 52 % of the residents are eligible voters, the Federal Electoral College of Remo should have about 384,488 potential voters.

Many interested parties that spoke with the times of the platform have complained of the brazen acts of hooliganism and delinism that characterized the survey.

The shots resonated in different locations, while there were suspected political criminals that grabbed the ballot boxes, the intimidating voters and moved freely in the electoral centers.

The videos obtained from Platform Times showed thugs who chase opposition supporters away from electoral units and cabins.

Some candidates claimed to have been prevented from voting, while the security agents, including police officers, were presumably overwhelmed or indifferently while the criminals sparked violence.

The police commissioner, Lanre Ogunlowo who spoke with the Times platform on Sunday on the phone, said he had guided the police team to guarantee the security of lives and properties

The CP said the team responded to each rescue call during the elections.

However, he said that every time the police were notified and arrived in the affected areas, the thugs would leave.
