Registration of online voters: 69, 376 pre-recorded Nigerians record of 7 hours

Abuja (Core reporter) while the registration of national continuous voters (CVR) began on Monday 18 August 2025, with the online pre-registry of the voters, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INC) reported that the Commission has recorded a registration of all records, such as 69, as 69, 376 pre-regricted Nigerians online (7 hours) while they were recorded at 3:30 am.

This was contained in a declaration by the National Commissioner and President, Information & Eleter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, who was made available to basic journalists on Monday, he said, he said on Monday,

According to the declaration, “the recording portal went live at 8.30, but by 15.30, only seven hours later, 69,376 Nigerians pre-recorded online. Of this figure, 33,803 (48.7%) are males while 35,573 (51.3%) are women in terms of age, 48.03 (69.2).

“The portal is available 24 hours per day of the week on https://cvr.inecnigeria.org”

The declaration also announced that the Commission will begin the person registration option on Monday 25 August 2025, in its 811 state and local government offices at national level from 9.00 to 15.00 only during weekdays (Monday to Friday). This, according to Sam Olumekun, will allow those who prefer the option of person to register and for online pre-registers to complete their recording. The two options will proceed simultaneously for the duration of the CVR, as indicated in the program previously issued by the Commission.

“From next week, the Commission will provide weekly updates on the CVR, including a detailed break by the state, sex, age, employment and disability.

“For emphasis, the public should note that the recording of the voters is open only to Nigerian citizens who are at least 18 years old and that are not registered voters. The double or multiple registration is a violation of the law. However, Inter-State transfer and intra-state/FCT are allowed, as well as the replacement of cards for lost or damaged voters during the CVR.”
