A total of 21,971 admission seekers have requested the post-autheme screening of 2025/2026 of the University of Ilorin.
The exercise began on August 28, 2025 and should work until Thursday 4 September 2025.
Speaking with journalists, the director of the university computer test center (CBT), Professor Kamilu Rauf, said that the exercise, which began with 26 candidates at the lower age, included 20,220 candidates for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examation (UTME) and 1,751 candidates for direct entry (de).
Professor Rauf also said that this year’s figure reflects an increase compared to the 15,946 Utme last year and 1,175 direct entry candidates.
About 12,856 candidates were admitted to the academic session of 2024/2025, he said.
“This year we recorded an addition of over 4,200 UTME candidates and 576 direct entry candidates, which shows that more students are making the University of ILORIN their first choice of institution,” he said.
The Mathematics professor has attributed the increase in applications to the growing reputation of the University for academic excellence, the uninterrupted academic calendar and the efficient administration.
“Our slogan is” far better “and candidates know that when you come to Unilorin, four years it means four years and five years it means five years, without the interruptions of prolonged strikes,” he said.
The director of the CBT reminded candidates and their parents to strictly adhere to the examinations for the exams, including clothing codes and the ban on gadgets such as cell phones in the examination room.
