Benue’s government has announced a donation of N380 million to the families of security agents who paid the supreme price during the duty in Benue’s state.
Governor Hyacinth Alia, who announced it in the Banquets of the government’s house, Makurdi, on Saturday, while housed the Wives Association (Powa), Benue State, explained that the families of each of the seventy -six officials who died will receive five million.
The Governor said that the government of Benue’s state will grant the land plots and scholarship, as well as start kit to the spouses of the fallen heroes, even if they decide to stay or leave the coasts of Benue’s state.
“No man in uniform in Benue’s state is our enemy. The police are not bad, the soldiers are not bad. If an egg between us is bad, we make such an egg fish,” said the governor.
He said that the military, whose main responsibility is to manage our territorial borders, are in some cases lined up in the areas of the local government and have warned against the observations on the social media platform that asks the soldiers to leave part of Benue’s state.
The governor said that the social media platform is a powerful tool that it can build but also destroy in a few minutes, urging people with disagreements to be cautious in offering a positive solution rather than otherwise.
He promised continuous support to Powa to ensure that their children go to school as and when they will have to.
The general manager of Homeland Security, the Air Commodor Jacob Gbamwuam, retired in his welcome observations, said that over 76 officers have lost their lives since 2024/2025 in the state of Benue during the course of duty.
He said it is such a number that prompted the governor to honor them, listing the beneficiaries to include the police, soldiers, civil protection guards, Nigeria’s security and the civil defense body, among others.
He praised the governor Hyacinth alia for the gesture of taking care of the families of those who left behind.
In his observations, the police commissioner, the command of the State Police of Benue, the CP Ifeanyi Enemari, who spoke on behalf of other security forces, expressed appreciation for the governor alia, saying that the gesture brings rescue to the families of the affected officers and an encouragement to the service of officials.
He praised the governor for the initiative, saying that he does not joke with the well -being of the state officers, as can be seen in the supply of work tools for various forces to face crime.
According to CP Enemari, the governor is at the forefront of guiding the forces to reach a company without crime, promising not to give way not to give space to bandits and other criminals to operate in the state.
For his part, the State President of the Wives Association (Powa) of the police officers, Mrs. Ujunwa Enemari, appreciated the support of the government of Benue’s state is giving the security forces and their wives over time.
He said that the widows are left without work and are in difficulty, following the disappearance of their husbands in line and asked for the extension of such a gesture to other people in need in society.
