Amb. Tugar greets the appointment of Amb. Niang as Foreign Minister Senegal

Abuja (basic reporter) The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria, his excellence, Yusuf Maitama Tugar, congratulated his excellence, Cheikh Niang, for his appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Senegal.

This was contained in a press declaration issued by the Ministry spokesman, Kimiebi IMOMOTIMI Ebienfa, Tuesday 9 September 2025.

The new Foreign Minister, until his appointment, was the permanent representative of Senegal at the United Nations. As a career diplomat, Amb. Cheikh Niang should bring his wealth of experience, having held prestigious positions such as Ambassador in Japan, the United States, South Africa and General Consul in New York to endure his new assignment.

The declaration said: “Nigeria can’t wait to further strengthen our historical, strong and vibrant relationship for the benefit of all our peoples”.
