Dino Melaye stated that PDP was ‘dead and buried’, claiming that APC agents are now controlling the opposition party

The former West Kogi Senator, Dino Melaye, has submitted a burdensome verdict to the Democratic Party of the People’s (PDP), stating that the Nigerian Main opposition party had been hijacked and destroyed effectively by the Congress of All Progressive (APC) in power.

Speaking during an interview on Arise television, Melaye said PDP had lost independence and could no longer function as a credible alternative for APC.

“Apart from our Lord Jesus Christ, there is no dead that can rise again. PDP is dead and buried. The party is sold, and I am not sure they even get a receipt of payment. What you have now is the PDP controlled by APC,” he said.

Melaye accused the political actor in APC to infiltrate the PDP and dictate his operations from the corridor of power. “This is a party that has been controlled from the villa. I have said before that as far as we know, APC agents who control PDP,” he added.

The former member of the parliament, who had been contested under the PDP platform, confirmed that he had now moved politically, joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which he described as the only platform capable of shifting the APC government of President Tinubu in the 2027 election.

“I am an ADC member who is proud, and with God’s grace, it is a party that will shift Tinubu and send APC out of Villa on May 29, 2027,” Melaye said.

He, however, warned of excessive fixation of PDP misery, urged the Nigerians to focus on the difficulties that peaked throughout the country.

“There are critical problems that limit this country: hunger, malnutrition, wrong government, and maladministration. That is a problem that I think we must discuss, not a dead party,” he said.
