Pack of mass to the refinery of dance for sabotage, safety problems

The oil refinery of damage and petrochemicals have rejected several staff members in a large reorganization exercise, following cases of sabotage reported in different refinery units that have raised serious safety problems.

Mr. Femi Adekunle, general manager of the human property management at Dangote Group, confirmed the development in a document seen by our correspondent Friday in Lagos

He observed that the reorganization followed multiple cases of sabotage reported through the refinery units that represented important safety risks.

According to Adekunle, the management has not been left another choice than to make a total reorganization of the refinery, with consequent disengagement of the staff concerned, Thursday 25 September.

He said: “The employees were told to give all the properties of the company to their line managers and to obtain a game game, with the specific date for the process to be communicated later.

“The Financial Department, with a copy of this letter, is recommended to calculate all your benefits and your rights in line with your terms of employment and service conditions.

“And pay the amount due to you (less all the debt), subject to the condition that you have obtained the output authorization certificate as mentioned above,” said Adekunle.

While the number of staff concerned has not been disclosed at the time of submitting this report, our correspondent has collected that the renovation could be connected to the decision of many of the workers dismissed to join the union of workers.

Recall that the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (Pengassan), in solidarity with the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (Nupeng), had previously threatened to close the refinery of dangar on the refusal of the direction to allow drivers of navigation ships and other employees of trade unions.

Pengassan expressed his frustration for what he described as the persistent resistance of the refinery to unionization efforts, underlining that “all diplomatic efforts had not been able to solve the problem”.

The Union also warned that if the stall continued, it would have no choice but to “join Nupeng to close the refinery operations to protect the rights and interests of workers”.
