CAF takes away the AFCON title from Senegal and declares Morocco Champions

The CAF appeals panel stripped Senegal of the 2025 AFCON title, overturning the result to a 3-0 win for Morocco following a protest over their elimination in the final.
Senegal was sanctioned for abandoning the match, resulting in heavy fines ($615,000), a five-match ban for their coach and a reversed result.

The CAF appeals commission has officially overturned the final result of the 2025 AFCON, awarding a 3-0 victory to Morocco after the Senegalese team left the pitch.
Senegal were found to have breached the regulations after walking away to protest the refereeing of the final match.
In addition to losing the title, the Senegalese Federation was fined $615,000 and coach Pape Thiaw received a five-match ban and a $100,000 fine.
The action followed chaotic scenes, including disputes on the pitch for a
goal disallowed and penalty awarded to Morocco.
This decision was made by the CAF Board of Appeal on 17 March 2026.
