The Supreme Court has quashed the national convention held by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibadan, Oyo State on November 15 and 16, 2025.
In a split decision, three out of five judges, the supreme court found that the appeal filed by the Turaki-led PDP faction lacked merit.
In handing down the main ruling, Justice Stephen Adah found that the appellants had acted in breach of an existing order of the Federal High Court, which had restrained them from proceeding with the agreement.
The supreme court upheld previous rulings that annulled the convention, which produced the national executive led by Turaki.
Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court, in a ruling delivered before the convention, had barred the PDP from proceeding with the exercise until Lamido was allowed to participate.
However, the party pushed ahead with the convention despite the court order, insisting that the matter was an internal affair beyond judicial intervention.
