Hearn addresses concerns over timing between Joshua and Fury

British boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has acted quickly to ease growing anxiety among boxing fans, addressing rampant speculation over the planned start time for the blockbuster heavyweight clash between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury.

With talk surrounding the huge national showdown largely focused on accommodating global broadcast schedules, rumors had run rampant on social media suggesting British fans could face a grueling 3am main event ring walk.

However, Matchroom boss Hearn has firmly rejected such extreme projections, assuring his followers that a night shift is unlikely to begin.

Addressing the complexities of programming, Hearn in a talk with independentt, noted that while a slightly later time slot is being discussed to satisfy U.S. and international audiences, organizers are still keeping those traveling to the venue in mind.

“People are talking about a fight at 3am BST? I don’t think you’ll see the fight that late.

“But obviously there had to be conversations with the [Principality] Stadium on what is possible and what is not possible.

“That’s probably one reason for the delay [of the fight announcement]: to make sure everything is agreed with the council to have a slightly later start time.

“Over the last week or two, we made our decision. AJ was the one who led that decision. We were not interested in taking extra money or changing the terms of the deal to change the location. He wanted to make sure the fight was in the UK.

“They have since accepted it. We are working together and talking to Netflix to set the date. I think the date is set.”
