The Presidential Campaign Council of the ruling APC has raised the alarm over an alleged “devious and well-orchestrated plan by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and his party to discredit the presidential campaign flag of the All Progressives Congress in Kaduna today, Saturday 24 October 2026”.
APC Presidential Campaign Council spokesperson Dele Alake said on Saturday that, “through subterfuge and senseless propaganda, the former Vice President and the African Democratic Congress have perfected their plans to misinform and misinform the public, manipulate public opinion through fake news operations, and spread fake news across major news platforms and social media with the use of artificial intelligence, deepfake videos and forged documents, all in an attempt to discredit the APC rally in Kaduna, President Bola Tinubu, Governor Uba Sani and our party leaders,”
He said that over the past 24 hours, the party’s CCP has seen these tactics used to mislead the unsuspecting public.
“It all started with the malicious publication of a photo of a routine patrol security vehicle, innocuously stationed at a junction near one of the numerous APC campaign billboards in the Kaduna metropolis.
“Atiku and the ADC propaganda apparatus distorted the narrative, claiming that security operatives were there to protect APC billboards in Kaduna. They then spread the story in a national newspaper known for its anti-government and anti-APC editorial stance.
“Soon after the newspaper published the false and distorted story, Atiku Abubakar, in a coordinated manner, latched onto it and shared it on his official social media to generate traffic and trends.
“Not long after the first episode of the well-choreographed plot, Atiku Abubakar and ADC disinformation operatives published online another fake letter purportedly written by Governor Uba Sani and addressed to the Director General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, on the release of N2.3 trillion by the Kaduna State Government to host the APC rally.
“We still do not know how anyone could imagine and concoct this senseless and completely baseless lie that defies logic and common sense. How much is the entire annual revenue of Kaduna State, or any state for that matter, that a state would spend $2.3 trillion to host a rally?
“The $2.3 trillion that Atiku and his cronies are circulating online is more than the annual budget of Kaduna State for three years.
“For context, Kaduna State’s combined budgets for 2024 (NN458.271 billion), 2025 (NN790.439 billion) and 2026 (NN985.9 billion) are still less than N2.3 trillion.
“We know that these two scenarios are only part of the grand plan. The ADC and Atiku mercenaries have also perfected plans to circulate old doctored and doctored videos as the demonstration begins later today to show the people’s supposed resentment.
“We hereby take this opportunity to warn the general public of this harmful and dastardly plan.
“It is a fact that Atiku Abubakar and the ADC, his special vehicle, are incapable of winning any election. They will do anything, no matter how despicable and heinous, to stay afloat in their desperate bid to seize power at all costs. We urge Nigerians to be vigilant and reject their machinations.
