Former Governor of Edo State and Senator representing Edo North in the National Assembly, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, on Saturday electrified Ikoro community in Ovia Northeast Local Government Area with his presence.
Oshiomhole led the All Progressives Congress [APC] The gubernatorial candidate and his running mate, Senator Monday Okpebholo and Honourable Dennis Idahosa respectively, travelled to Ikoro to meet the former Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Prince Clem Ikanade Agba, during the funeral of his mother-in-law, Mrs Alice Janet Obaseki.
Chants of “Oshio baba” and “Oshio quake” pierced the air as he [Oshiomhole] Move from table to table to shake hands with guests.
Saturdayβs event attended by the APC governorship campaign council in Edo was dubbed βIn-Laws Dayβ.
It provided an opportunity for family members to strengthen bonds and deepen their culture. Family friends and business associates were present to identify with the progeny of the late Madam Alice Janet Obaseki, who died on June 9, 2024 at the age of 83.
There was more than enough to eat and drink. There were musical performances and dancing in abundance.
The actual burial took place on Friday, amid a lavish ceremony that highlighted the extraordinary life and moments of the Obaseki family matriarch, whose eldest daughter, Princess Catherine Orobosa, is married to Prince Clem Ikanade Agba.
The funeral rites concluded with a thanksgiving service at the Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church on Upper Mission Road, Benin, where the late Madam Alice Janet Obaseki prayed until her transition. She was Mother in Israel in the Church.
Among those who attended the thanksgiving service were Chief [Dr] Abu Inu-Umoru, Chairman of Setraco Nigeria Ltd [the second biggest construction company in Nigeria]; Senator Matthew Urhoghide, DG, APC Governorship Campaign Organisation; Honourable Rasak Bello-Osagie; Dr. Lanre Adekanye, retired Director, Ministry of Budget and National Planning; Chief Sam Ekwueme, retired Executive, Chevron Nigeria Limited; Mr. Garba Momoh, Businessman; and Mr. Sufuyan Ojeifo, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief, THE CONCLAVE online newspaper.

Sermon on βthe goodness of working with Godβ, Elder [Barrister] Isaac Imo commended the life of service in Godβs vineyard led by Mrs. Obaseki.
He urged parishioners to revere God, to fear Him, respect Him, obey Him and honor Him, adding that every time you βhave the opportunity to sin and you run away, you have run away from the poison.
βWhen you stop sinning, you have expressed your love for God.
βWe must obey God. We need the spirit of obedience to do everything God asks us to do.β
He advised that no one should be a benchwarmer. We must do God’s work while it is day because the night comes when no one can work.
Elder Imo said that βworking with God means not following the counsel of the wicked.
βAnother way to work with God is to live a life of responsibility. Wherever there is no responsibility, there is irresponsibility.β
He stated that there are blessings for those who work and walk with God.
Finally, he charged the congregation to fear God and keep His commandments, for this is man’s whole duty toward his Creator.
Both Prince Clem Agba and his wife, Princess Catherine Agba, testified to the goodness of God and thanked Him and the Church for their physical and spiritual support.
The Agba family and their friends donated a princely sum for the construction of the church auditorium and for the purchase of chairs in the church.
