Applications to boycott the election of river government

The People’s Action Party (APP) in Rivers has chosen to boycott the August 30 local government elections in the state.

The head of the application in the state, Mr. Sunny Wokekoro, gave a notification in a chat with journalists on Thursday at Port Harcourt.

He said the decision to boycott the election followed the directions of the National Secretariat of the Party and the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC).

Wokekoro added that the peak body of the party and IPAC had suggested political parties to avoid elections.

“Apart from our decision to choose out of the election, we (APP) remain a formidable political force here in Rivers.

“We all know how we recorded the victory of a landslide in the local government election which was canceled on October 5, 2024.

“Our current position does not signify the end of the application in the state,” said the chairman.

Wokekoro also refused the rumors that he was no longer the application leader at Rivers State.
