The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ibogun District, Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State, has suspended a prominent party leader, Chief Joju Fadairo, along with the District Chairman, Alhaji Akeem Oluwanisola, and District Youth Leader, Abraham Samuel Ochem, for alleged anti-party activities and alleged violations of the party constitution.
The suspension was ratified at a general meeting of APC members in Ibogun Ward held on Thursday, June 11, 2026 at the party secretariat in Akiode where stakeholders deliberated on internal disputes and disciplinary concerns within the ward structure.
According to resolutions reached at the meeting, members unanimously approved an earlier decision of the District Executive Committee to suspend Alhaji Oluwanisola and Mr Ochem indefinitely over allegations bordering on financial misconduct, abuse of office and failure to comply with the party’s administrative procedures.
They have been accused of alleged mismanagement and lack of accountability in the management of funds released for the recent party affirmation and primary election processes, refusal to convene statutory constituency meetings as required by the APC Constitution, and alleged threats to disband constitutionally recognized constituency structures.
The department also accused the suspended officials of making unilateral decisions without recourse to party bodies, describing their conduct as “hostile to party cohesion and grassroots stability.”
In a separate resolution, the meeting also approved the indefinite suspension of Chief Fadairo for allegedly publicly supporting Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate Hon. Ladi Adebutu.
Party members described the purported endorsement as a grave act of indiscipline and anti-party conduct capable of undermining the electoral fortunes and unity of the APC in the neighbourhood.
They also cited provisions of the APC Constitution that prohibit members from supporting opposition candidates or engaging in actions likely to bring the party into disrepute.
The meeting, reportedly attended by 106 members, said 21 of the district’s 27 executive members approved the suspensions and disciplinary actions taken against the affected party leaders.
Meanwhile, in a separate communication addressed to the Ifo Local Government APC Chairman, 21 members of the district executive committee formally notified the local government leadership of the disciplinary measures, insisting that due process had been initiated.
The committee further alleged that the suspended district president had failed to provide adequate accounting of party funds and had attempted to ignore established party structures following questions raised by members.
Ochem was also accused of openly working and campaigning for an opposition candidate alongside Chief Fadairo, a charge the committee described as a clear breach of party loyalty.
The district leadership argued that the suspensions were necessary to safeguard discipline, accountability and constitutional order within the party, adding that an ad hoc disciplinary committee would be constituted to investigate the allegations and ensure a fair hearing for affected members.
Party officials said the outcome of the investigation will determine further action in line with the APC Constitution.
