Breaking: Tribunal affirms Nasarawa Speaker’s victory


The National and State House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Lafia ,the Nasarawa state capital, Saturday, affirmed the election of the Speaker of State House Assembly, Rt.Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, who also represents Umuaisha/Ugya constituency in Toto local government area of Nasarawa state.

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ibrahim Abdullahi Sa’ad, challenged Balarabe’s victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the tribunal.

The three-member panel led by Justice Francisca Nnang Isoni, during her ruling dismissed the petition for lack of merit.

The candidate of the PDP was seeking to declare him winner in the state assembly constituency argued that the Speaker was not duly elected by the majority votes.

However, the Speaker Abdullahi commended the judgement that upheld his election.

He said the verdict is a testament to the fact that the Judiciary will always uphold justice without fear or favour, saying this will strengthen democracy in the state and country at large.

He expressed gratitude to God for giving him yet another victory against the opposition, and called on his opponent to join hands with him to move Toto forward.
