Danladi-Saliu emerged APC governorship candidate in Kwara

Mr Yakubu Danladi-Saliu on Friday won the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election in Kwara State.

The Chairman of the APC Primary Electoral Committee in the state, Senatorot Musiliu Obanikoro, announced the results in Ilorin.

Obanikoro said Danladi-Saliu secured 94,990 votes to defeat nine other candidates in the contest.

According to him, Amb. Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki came second with 41,700 votes, while Olufemi Sanni polled 5,519 votes.
Dr Yahaya Oloriegbe got 3,920 votes, while Mohammed Bergore (SAN) got 3,411 votes.
Mohammed Bio got 1,122 votes, Dr Alabi Oluwatoyin got 1,099 votes, while Bashiru Bolarinwa got 22,118 votes.
Prof. Abubakar Suleiman received 1,722 votes, while Prof. Wale Suleiman received 2,434 votes.
Obanikoro said the primaries, which were postponed early due to logistical reasons, witnessed peaceful participation from party members across the state.

He said: “Despite the inconvenience experienced yesterday (Thursday), members came out today in large numbers to participate peacefully in this exercise.

“This shows the unity, perseverance and strength of our great party.”

He added that there were no losers in this contest and described all presidential candidates as members of one political family.

“I hereby declare that Mr Yakubu Danladi-Saliu, who has fulfilled the requirements of the APC and obtained the highest number of votes, is declared the winner,” Obanikoro said.

The APC Chairman in the state, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, commended the members for their orderliness during the exercise.

Fagbemi described the success of the primaries as proof of his party’s readiness for the 2027 elections.
