*Consults with party leaders and supporters on the next direction
Abdulrahman Haske, a front-runner in Thursday’s All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primaries in Adamawa State, has raised measured concerns over the conduct of the exercise, while reaffirming his commitment to party unity and democratic ideals.
In an interview on Friday, Haske highlighted irregularities that he said require careful review in the interest of strengthening the party’s internal democracy ahead of the 2027 general election.
These, he said, include the absence of collation processes in some local government areas, voting irregularities in some polling stations and limited access to collation procedures before the final declaration of results.
“It was surprising that while we were waiting for the collation of votes to happen, what happened with our biggest surprise was the declaration of the winner. We have our data and we will consult and declare our position over the weekend,” he said.
While acknowledging that a candidate has been declared, Haske stressed that the credibility of any electoral process must be based not only on results but also on transparency, fairness and full inclusion of all aspirants.
“The integrity of the process is as important as the outcome. Transparent and inclusive procedures remain essential to sustaining trust, confidence and unity within our great party,” he said.
Despite his concerns, Haske struck a tone of sportsmanship and responsibility, calling for restraint among his supporters and calling for calm across the state.
He revealed that consultations are ongoing with party leaders, stakeholders and supporters to determine the next appropriate course of action within the framework of the party’s constitution.
“As responsible democrats, we are making extensive efforts to review the exercise and explore all legitimate avenues available to us. Our decisions will be guided by due process, party unity and the best interests of Adamawa State,” he said.
In a message of deep appreciation to his supporters, Haske paid tribute to their courage, sacrifice and unwavering belief throughout the campaign.
“To our resilient and committed supporters across the 21 local government areas of Adamawa State, we salute your courage, sacrifices and steadfast commitment in supporting us during the direct governorship primaries.
“Together, we have fought a strong and determined battle with conviction, unity and hope for a better Adamawa. This journey is far from over, and by the grace of Almighty Allah, we will emerge stronger, more united and more determined in the days to come.
“I am deeply grateful for the support, encouragement and belief in the vision we have shared. Your commitment, energy and solidarity have been truly humbling, and I thank Almighty Allah for how far it has brought us. I especially appreciate my team members, the Election Board, the AB Haske Foundation and the media for their in-depth coverage of the process,” he said.
Reiterating his loyalty to the APC, Haske stressed that the larger objective remains the unity, stability and progress of both the party and Adamawa State, stressing the importance of internal democracy in the party.
“Regardless of the outcome, our collective commitment to the unity, progress and advancement of Adamawa State remains unwavering,” he added.
He concluded with a call for peace, patience and continued trust in democratic processes.
“We urge all our supporters and the good people of Adamawa State to remain calm, peaceful and law-abiding as the consultations continue. Our strength lies in our unity, maturity and shared vision for a better future.”
