FCTA SEALS FIRS OFFICE, ACCESS OF BANK BRANCH, Total FUEL STATE TO PABUD LAND RENTAL

On Monday, the administration of the Federal Capital Region (FCTA) sealed several high profile properties in Abuja, including the Bank Access branch and the total gas station at Wuse Zone 6, due to arrears in land rent for decades.

FCTA also moved against the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) office in Abuja, upholding similar steps for unpaid fees.

The official note revealed that the access property of the bank was officially allocated to Rana Tahir Furniture Nigeria Limited, not directly to the bank. The letter dated March 13, 2025, and signed by the Director of Land Administration, Chijioke Nwankwoeze, outlines the position of the government.

“The Minister of Federal Capital has been in exercising the power given to him under the Law of Land Use No. 6 of 1978, Cap. L5, the Law of the Nigerian Federation 2004, revoked your rights, interests and privileges of plot No. 2456 in Wuse I, Cadastral Zone A02, Abuja,” Letters read.

The document quotes default property persistent in paying annual land rent as a basis for extraction. “This revocation is given your continuous flexibility of the terms and conditions of granting residential rights by failing to pay annual land rent that is due to the property for thirty four (34) years,” he said.

This enforcement is part of a broader campaign to recover unpaid land rent from property owners throughout the FCT. Officials emphasized that recurring notifications and warnings have been issued since 2023, urged Allottees to complete their debts to avoid sanctions.
