A former Russian transportation minister was found dead because of a gunshot wound in his car only a few hours after it was revealed that he had been fired from his role.
Roman Starovoit, a former governor of the Kitage area, was reported to have taken his own life.
The death of the 53 -year -old man occurred after he was dismissed from the position of transportation by the President Vladimir Putin.
In a statement, RussiaThe Investigation Committee, Top Criminal Investigation Agency, said Starovoit’s body was found in his vehicle parked in Odintsovo, a environment to the west of Moscow where the elite members of the country lived.
The situation around the death of Mr. Starovoit is being investigated, with a statement adding: “The main version is suicide.”
Earlier on Monday, it was revealed that Mr. Putin had fired Mr. Starovoit after more than a year in the work.
MR Starovoit was appointed Minister of Transportation in May 2024 after spending almost five years as the Governor of the KuaCon area bordering Ukraine.
A few months after he left his role as governor, Ukrainian troops crossed the border into the Kursk when Kyiv launched the largest foreign attack on Russia since the Second World War.
Ukraine troops were pushed out of the Kursk earlier this year.
In April, the successor to MR Starovoit as Governor, Alexei Smirnov, was accused of embezzling the money intended for defense purposes.

Andrei Nikitin, the former Governor of the Novgorod region, has been appointed as Acting Minister of Transportation.
When previously asked about the departure of Mr Starovoit who suddenly, the Kremlin Dmitry Peskov spokesman said: “At present, in the opinion of the President, Quality and Professional Experience of Andrei Nikitin will contribute to the best to ensure that this agency is described by the President as very important, fulfilling his duties and functions.”
