Governor Bala Mohammed opted for the APM Senate form

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, on Thursday took Allied People’s Movement (APM) senatorial nomination forms for the 2027 general elections.

The governor is eyeing the Bauchi South Senatorial District seat in the election.

Mohammed dumped the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for APM last week.

He received the form at the APM National Executive Committee meeting held in Abuja.

The party’s National Chairman, Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, and other key stakeholders attended the meeting.

Mohammed, who confirmed this in a statement posted on his X handle, lamented that Nigeria’s political landscape is increasingly challenged by undemocratic practices and political intimidation.

He wrote: “I explained that after extensive consultations with political colleagues, stakeholders and supporters across the country, APM emerged as the political platform that best aligns with our collective vision and aspirations.

“I note that APM shares the same values as my political philosophy, especially in the areas of good governance, internal democracy, justice, inclusiveness and respect for the rule of law.

“I further emphasize that our decision to join the party is driven by our conviction and desire to make a meaningful contribution in building a stronger democratic culture in Nigeria.

I also disclosed that our movement into the APM includes a large number of political office holders and stakeholders who previously served under the PDP structure in Bauchi State.

“Members of the National Assembly, Bauchi State House of Assembly, local government chairmen, commissioners, county executives, party officials and many grassroots supporters are all aligned with this new political movement.”
