The Kaduna State Police Command issued a security consultant who prohibits a birthday event in honor of the former candidate for the Peter Obi presidency, warning that the collection places serious safety risks.
In a declaration signed by the command spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, the police revealed that credible intelligence has indicated plans from criminal elements to infiltrate the proposed event and divert it to encourage violence and interrupt public peace throughout the state.
The declaration stressed that “all forms of political gatherings and public gatherings of a political nature remain suspended throughout the State until the official start date of political activities, as established by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INC)”.
According to the police, the event coincides with the date of the party primaries for the next elections of Ciao in the State, raising fears of possible clashes between supporters.
“The planned event is expected to overlap and interrupt different areas designated for the conduct of the primaries of the other political parties, thus placing a significant risk of tension, clashes and distribution of the law”, observed the note.
The command therefore strongly recommended to the supporters of Mr. Obi to suspend the planned collection to safeguard public safety and avoid legal consequences.
He warned that the police are committed to protecting lives and properties and “will not hesitate to take the necessary legal actions against any individual or group found to violate this directive”.
The command also required continuous public cooperation to support peace and security in the state of Kaduna.
