Tunisia have reportedly parted ways with head coach Sabri Lamouchi following the Carthage Eagles’ crushing 5-1 loss to Sweden in their opening match of the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup, reports Comoletesports.com.
The North Africans were overtaken by the Swedes on Sunday night, prompting the Tunisian Football Federation to make a quick change of direction.
Former coach Mondher Kebaier is expected to take charge of the team on an interim basis for the remainder of the tournament.
Tunisia will look to bounce back when they face Japan in their next group stage match on Sunday, June 21.
Lamouchi ends his difficult reign
Lamouchi was appointed head coach of Tunisia in January 2026 and oversaw four matches during his brief period in charge.
The former African champions only managed one goal and conceded 11 in four games.
The Carthage Eagles began their tenure with a goalless draw against Canada before suffering a 1-0 loss to Austria and a tough 5-0 loss to Belgium. The humiliating defeat to Sweden ultimately proved to be the last straw.
