Malaysia, Netherlands, Brazil top destinations for Nigeria’s exports reaching $2.7 billion in H1/24

Malaysia, the Netherlands and Brazil emerged as Nigeria’s top export destinations in the first half of this year.

Executive Director of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Nonye Ayeni stated this at a meeting on Wednesday in Abuja.

He said that as many as 211 products were exported from the country during that period.

The NEPC chief said the country’s total exports in the period rose to $2.7 billion, representing a 2.6 percent increase in total export value compared to the same period in 2023.

According to Ayeni, the leading products exported during this period included cocoa, nuts, urea and sesame.

Latest data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) shows that Nigeria’s agricultural exports to other countries increased by 123 percent from the value recorded in the fourth quarter of 2023 (₦463.97 billion), and also by 270 percent when compared to the ₦279.64 billion recorded in Q1 2023.

The agency revealed that agricultural products exported to Asia were worth ₦572 billion followed by exports to Europe at ₦366 billion.
