Obasa wins Agege House of Reps APC primaries unopposed, thanks to party faithful

Mudashiru Obasa, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly (LAHA), has won the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primary election unopposed.

After his victorious exit, he thanked the faithful and party members for their full support.

Obasa, while making remarks after the election to Ward E Oyewole Primary Agege, thanked stakeholders and party members for giving him full support to represent Agege at the green chamber.

“This is another opportunity given to me by my constituents to represent them in the House of Representatives, and I am ensuring they have more effective representation in the upper legislative chamber,” he said.

Chief Ganiyu Egunjobi, former Chairman of Agege Local Government, said the people of Agege were behind the Lagos speaker and that was why the elections were held peacefully without conflict within the community.

“There is no secret behind these primaries; the people of Agege have really shown that they support our leader, our speaker Obasa.

“At the same time, it also shows that we are one in the Agege and speak with one voice through our vote, and that the speaker is the aspirant and candidate for the federal constituency of the Agege.

“There is no opposition, no one disputes with him.

“As you can see now, we are here to affirm Obasa’s candidacy as the sole candidate of the APC for the Federal House of Representatives, representing Agege Federal Constituency,” Egunjobi said.

According to him, people should expect good works and effective representation from the speaker, which enabled him to secure the ticket of the House of Representatives.

“It is a testament to his good work and the reward of good work is more work,” he added.

The former Agege president, also an aspirant from LAHA Agege constituency I, said there were 11 wards in the Agege federal constituency and that all party members had decided to vote for Obasa as their candidate for the House of Representatives.

“We have 11 constituencies in the Agege federal constituency, and this is just one of the 11, as you can see.

“If you go to any neighborhood in Agege, you will see crowds coming out for Obasa and our group.

“My advice to my people, to the men and women of my party, to the young and the old, is for everyone to maintain peace. No fighting, no conflict,” he said.

Oladapo Yusuf, an aspirant vying for Lagos State Assembly Constituency II, said the turnout of party members was huge as people came out to support and vote for their party flag bearer to the Federal House of Representatives.

“I can tell you with certainty that the turnout was enormous; as you can see behind me, people came in droves to actually participate in this exercise.

“That’s because the candidate is someone well known to them, someone who has been in the system so many times, touched lives.

“It actually transformed the community from what it was.”

Yusuf said the Lagos President was a man of peace who preached peace at all times.

“You know, he is a man who always preaches peace, compared to what Agege was known for in the past.

“So, he preached peace and love among the voters, saying that no matter where you come from, Agege is one of them. So, peace is something that, for me, is an understatement.

“The elections took place absolutely peacefully and, as I said, he is the only candidate; there was no opposition,” he said.

Hundreds of APC party members in Agege Federal Constituency have gathered en masse to cast their votes for the Lagos Speaker in the party’s primary elections on Saturday.
