Obi visited Governor Bauchi, recommending a single term of 5 years for the President

The presidential candidate for the Labor Party in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, on Friday suggested a five -year term for the President in Nigeria.

Obi made a telephone when he visited the Governor of the State of Bauchi, Bala Mohammed, at the government building in Bauchi.

He said: “I have said it and I want to say it again at this government’s house that if I have a chance, we must stop having a second term for the President.

“It should be five years in a row, so people can know that they have a job that must be done.

“What people do now is to be president for one year and use the rest of this year about their next term of office. We must stop it, let’s face the actual work, do it ourselves, and leave.”

Former Governor of the State Anambra insisted that if he was elected president in 2027, he would only serve for a term of office and vowed that he would not spend more than four years in the office.

Obi added that if allowed to serve Nigeria, he would ensure that every political party functioned properly.

“I want the party to be bigger than the president and governor so that we can have order,” said the LP tribal chief.

In his words, the Governor urged Obi to return to the people’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Mohammed said: “We want you to return to PDP. Please come back because that’s where you are.

“We want you to be in PDP; there are plans, desires, and strategies.”

The governor, which emphasized that politics in Nigeria should not be done with the ego, difference, and personal interests, urged the elements of opposition to harmonize their interests in the interests of Nigeria.
