Seadogs Transform Mpape school with multi-million naira educational intervention

The National Association of Seadogs (NAS) Worldwide, Galleon Bay Deck, has officially commissioned educational interventions at LEA Primary School, Mpape, Abuja.

The intervention, worth about N100 million, resulted in the complete renovation and furnishing of three classroom blocks consisting of nine classrooms, the rehabilitation and reinstallation of a solar powered borehole system, and the distribution of 844 school uniforms and thousands of educational materials to students at the school.

This project, implemented in collaboration with strategic development partners and stakeholders, directly addresses years of damaged infrastructure, inadequate learning facilities, poor access to clean water, and non-conducive learning conditions affecting more than 844 students in the school and surrounding communities.

The dedication ceremony attracted a number of dignitaries, educational administrators, development partners, community leaders, and members of the National Association of Seadogs Worldwide, all gathered to witness what many described as a demonstration of transformational leadership and community-centered philanthropy.

This festive and emotional event saw students visibly overcome with joy, entertaining guests with cultural dance performances, drama performances, speech delivery, and other artistic performances that reflected gratitude, hope, and renewed faith in their future.

A major highlight of the event was the unveiling of the renovated classroom block and rehabilitated facilities by Capoon of the National Association of Seadogs Worldwide, Dr. Avua Joe Oteri, in collaboration with the Director General of the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute (NIBRRI), Professor Samson Duna, who was represented by the Director, Consultancy and Extension Services, Chief Faniel Makava. This symbolic exercise underscores the power of strategic collaboration in driving sustainable community development and educational progress.

Speaking at the inauguration, representatives from various collaborating institutions praised NAS-Galleon Bay Deck for demonstrating extraordinary commitment to human resource development and sustainable impact on society through education.

They note that these interventions not only include physical infrastructure, but also restore dignity, self-confidence and opportunity to children who previously learned in extremely difficult conditions.

Also present at the event were the Executive Secretary of the Bwari Regional Education Department, Mr. Tanko Isuwa; Executive Chairman of the Universal Basic Education Council represented by the Director of Primary School Services, Mallam Jibrin Danlami; as well as dignitaries, stakeholders and members of the National Association of Seadogs Worldwide.

To further demonstrate collective social responsibility, the Patient Okoegiri Educational Foundation donated 3,000 branded exercise books, while the United States International Book Project provided quality storybooks for senior elementary school students. Additionally, the Dannonmbi Care Foundation, Segun Obayendo Foundation, along with several zones and individual members of NAS Worldwide, supported the “Kit-a-Child Initiative,” through which 844 school uniforms were donated to students.

Beyond the physical structure and materials delivered, this intervention represents a strong investment in the future of Nigeria’s children and a bold contribution to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals of Quality Education, Clean Water and Sanitation, Good Health and Well-Being, Reducing Inequality, and Partnership for Development.

The inauguration of the Mpape School Transformation Project today is not only a celebration of the renovation of classrooms and restoration of facilities, but also an example of visionary partnership, responsible community engagement and philanthropy aimed at transforming lives and rebuilding communities.
