Senior ISIS leader, Abu Manuki, was killed in a joint US-Nigeria counterterrorism strike

President Bola Tinubu on Saturday morning revealed that a joint operation by Nigerian and United States troops had succeeded in eliminating senior ISIS leader, Abu-Bilal Al-Manuki, also known as Abu-Mainok.

The president said in a statement earlier in the day that last night’s operation was “a significant example of effective collaboration in the fight against terrorism.”

He stated that “the determined Nigerian Armed Forces, in collaboration with the United States Armed Forces, carried out a bold joint operation that delivered a crushing blow to the ISIS group.

“Preliminary assessments confirm the elimination of the sought-after ISIS senior leader, Abu-Bilal Al-Manuki, also known as Abu-Mainok, along with several of his lieutenants, in an attack on his compound in the Lake Chad Basin.

“Nigeria values ​​its partnership with the United States in advancing our shared security goals. I extend my sincere thanks to President Trump for his steadfast leadership and support in this effort.

“I commend the personnel involved on both sides for their professionalism and courage, and I look forward to a more decisive attack against all terrorist pockets across the country.”
