Trump announces the killing of ISIS deputy leader Abu-Bilal al-Minuki in Nigeria

Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, the second-in-command of the global Islamic State group, ISIS, has been killed by US and Nigerian forces.
US President Donald Trump announced the assassination.
He announced that American forces, working alongside the Nigerian army, carried out a joint operation that killed al-Minuki.
Trump made the announcement in a late-night post on his Truth Social platform, claiming that the operation successfully eliminated what he called “the most active terrorist in the world.”

According to the US president, the mission was the result of continuous intelligence gathering and coordination between US security agencies and Nigerian forces.

“[He] thought he could be hiding in Africa,” Trump wrote, adding that the suspected terrorist “did not know we had sources keeping us informed about what he was doing.”

The president did not reveal the exact location of the operation, the number of casualties involved or whether any American or Nigerian personnel were injured during the mission.

Abu-Bilal al-Minuki was described by Trump as a senior ISIS commander with broad operational influence in several regions.
