South West Fulani Chiefs Laud Tinubu, Makinde and Security Agencies for Rescue of Kidnapped Oyo Pupils

The Council of Fulani Chiefs in the South West has commended President Bola Tinubu, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and security agencies for the successful rescue of the abducted school children and their teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of ​​Oyo State.

The council described the operation as a major breakthrough in the fight against insecurity, saying it demonstrated the professionalism, resilience and effective coordination of Nigeria’s security agencies.

In a statement issued by its press office on Friday, the council, led by its President and Sarki Fulani of Lagos, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar Bambado II, expressed satisfaction that the victims regained freedom without any loss of life despite spending days in captivity.

The success of the operation reflects the commitment of the Federal Government and Oyo State Government to protect lives and ensure the safety of citizens.

“The successful rescue of the abducted pupils and their teachers is a testament to the dedication, expertise and effective coordination of Nigeria’s security architecture,” the statement read.

The Council also urged Nigerians, especially residents in the South West, to reject ethnic profiling and divisive narratives that undermine peace and security.

He called on citizens to support efforts to combat terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes through cooperation with security agencies.

“As resident communities, we will continue to cooperate with government and security agencies in all peacebuilding initiatives and security efforts aimed at protecting lives and properties in our towns, villages and forests.

“Together we can build a more secure, peaceful and prosperous South-West and Nigeria as a whole,” the statement added.

The council also expressed appreciation to Tinubu, Makinde, service chiefs and heads of security and intelligence agencies for responding to requests from concerned Nigerians, including Fulani leaders, to ensure the release of the abducted pupils and teachers.

He also prayed for lasting peace, national unity and sustainable development, expressing optimism that the country’s security challenges can be overcome through continued collaboration between the government, security agencies and citizens.
