The Kaduna State Government has confirmed that the incident at Mando Motor Park in the early hours of April 5 was a small explosion from a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) powered bus and not a bomb explosion.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the state’s Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Maiyaki, the government said initial findings showed that the vehicle, operated by Silver Luxury Travel, experienced a technical fault related to overcharging.
“Preliminary findings confirm that the incident involved a CNG-powered bus with a small explosion caused by a technical fault related to overcharging.
There were no bomb explosions, and no casualties or property losses were recorded.”

He added that the situation was resolved quickly and normal activities had resumed at the park.
The Commissioner said the development followed an earlier statement from the Kaduna State Police Command on the incident.
According to him, Governor Uba Sani has ordered a comprehensive multi-agency investigation to determine the immediate causes and causes of the incident.
“This investigation will involve relevant safety agencies, technical regulators and safety authorities to ensure full accountability and strengthen operational standards for CNG use across the state,” Maiyaki said.
