In a heartwarming display of community spirit and academic pride, citizens of Mbaise were privileged to be at the forefront of honoring the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), Professor INS Dozie, and his wife at a special reception held at Prof. COE Onwuliri Conference Hall. This event followed the inaugural Thanksgiving Mass officiated by His Excellency, Archbishop Dr. Lucius Ugorji, marking a significant milestone for both the university and the community.

The meeting was attended by a lively mix of esteemed guests, including former Vice Chancellor, Professor Nnenna Oti, distinguished academics, university administrators, clergy, traditional rulers, students and members of the university and Mbaise communities. The atmosphere was filled with joy and gratitude, reflecting the deeply rooted bonds within the community and mutual support for its leaders.

Professor Eddie Oparaoji, who led the Mbaise delegation at home and abroad, expressed deep joy at seeing two brothers: Prof. COE Onwuliri and Prof. Ins Dozie were vice-chancellors of the same institution during his lifetime. His heartfelt words resonated with the audience as he stressed the importance of unity and support for their leaders. “Prof. Dozie needs no confirmation; his stellar record speaks for itself. However, today we stand with him, alongside highly respectable and esteemed citizens of Mbaise such as Her Excellency Prof. Viola Onwuliri and Barr. Dr. Maxwell Opara,” he said, underscoring the collective commitment to promoting the success of FUTO and the larger community.

In an era where collaboration and unity are essential for growth, this event highlighted the shared vision of the Mbaise community. With the leadership of Prof. Ins Dozie, there is a renewed optimism for the future of FUTO and a collective commitment to cultivating the next generation of scholars and leaders.

As the citizens of Mbaise express their heartfelt congratulations to Prof. Dozie, they also reflect on the legacy of his mentor and “big brother”, Prof. COE Onwuliri. Together, they envision a future full of promise and achievement for their beloved institution and community.
