UNIUYO Thrash FUTO 8-1 in Inter-University Scrabble Series 2026

The University of Uyo (UNIUYO) put up a strong performance by defeating the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) 8-1 in the last edition of the Inter-University Scrabble Series (IUSS) held in May 2026.

The resounding result underlined UNIUYO’s growing status as one of the strongest university Scrabble teams in Nigeria, as the hosts dominated across the board in a highly competitive team competition designed to promote the development of Scrabble in tertiary institutions.

UNIUYO shows its strength on local soil

Playing in front of a home crowd, the UNIUYO team showed tactical discipline, superior word building skills and consistency throughout the series.

The Uyo team was captained by Abasido Bassey, with a formidable line-up that included:
