Utomi advocated the ‘total restructuring’ of Nigeria

A political economist, Prof. Pat Utomi, on Thursday urged President Tinubu Bola to restructure the country before the 2027 General Election.

He made a call on June 12: National Dialogue Annual Democracy Day in Ikeja, Lagos.

Utomi said Nigerian democracy would be strengthened by total restructuring.

He said: “Agitation for total restructuring will stabilize and advance democracy in the country.

“This is because the current democracy is not the type of Democracy Head Abiola sacrificed his life.”

He stressed that the current state and economic structure of the country, and “the 1999 constitution that cannot be done,” is a big challenge for democracy.

He appealed to Nigerians to receive restructuring as a vehicle to deepen democracy and strengthen the country.

Utomi said the President would win the trust of the Nigerians if he listened to the agitation of Pan-Yoruba socio-political organizations, Afenifere, IGBO colleagues, Ohaneze, and other ethnic groups who were undergoing restructuring.

He urged the Nigerians to maintain democracy with jealousy and be aware of their anti-democratic forces and their agents in the country.
