All 17 local government chairmen under the Association of Local Government Chairmen (ALGON) in Yobe State, have unanimously endorsed Alhaji Baba Malam Wali as the governorship candidate on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general elections in the state.
Wali, who they described as a grassroots politician, has served the state under several administrations as secretary to the state government and had previously been nominated as candidate by Governor Mai Mala Buni and other APC stakeholders.
It received another huge boost, after all 17 presidents arose from their critical and strategic meeting on Thursday in Damaturu, the state capital.
The Chairman of ALGON, who is also the Chairman of Damaturu Local Government Area, Hon Bukar Adamu, said: “We have deliberated intensively and extensively during today’s meeting with critical stakeholders and have concluded, after exploring all the ramifications of the prosperous leadership and governance that the state needs, that no other personality deserves the governor’s seat other than Baba Malam Wali.
“Among all other aspirants, Baba Malam Wali possesses the most impressive catalog of achievements, capacity and commitment to prosperously build the State on the solid and excellent foundation laid by His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni,” Hon. Adamu revealed.
The ALGON President further said: Baba Malam Wali, over the years, has consistently represented the state government with uncommon dedication, loyalty and competence.
“Wali worked quietly but effectively, taking on critical responsibilities and achieving results that strengthened governance and public trust.
“At several crucial moments, particularly during high-level state functions and strategic engagements, Baba Wali has taken over from His Excellency with remarkable clarity, authority and poise. His representation has never been ceremonial; it has always been substantive, reflecting a deep understanding of government policies, priorities and direction.
“Without a doubt, Baba Malam Wali’s years of sacrifice, loyalty and proven competence have earned him recognition. As 2027 approaches, he stands out as a credible, experienced and deserving candidate to assume the leadership role.” Adamu explained.
To this end, the 17 helmsmen of Yobe local councils urged all people of the state to engage in all efforts to ensure that Baba Malam Wali is elected governor of the state in 2027 for the prosperity of the state.
