Etiebet, in a statement expressing his deepest condolences to Iwuanyanwu’s family and the Nigerian public, described him as a great Nigerian who loved his people and Nigeria very much.

“As one of the richest Nigerians in the 1980s, he sacrificed his very lucrative business to join politics and fight for the inclusiveness of all Nigerians in the unity and oneness of the country.

“He was on the same model as Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe and Dr. Alex Ekweme.

“He had always wanted to get a position to empower his people while running for president of the country.

“Later in his life and times he would become the President General of the Igbo cultural organization, Ohanaeze Group, where he was very active and worked hard for the release of Nnamdi Kanu until his death.

“We will all miss him. He was a lovely guy.

“May his soul rest in peace.
β€œAmen,” Etiebet wrote.
