An undisclosed number of students at the University of Benin (UNIBEN) were feared killed when a three-storey building collapsed in Edo State on Saturday.
The building located on Ekhator Street, Benin City, is occupied by students of the university.
An eyewitness said the building was a single-story structure for many years but was recently renovated with the addition of two more floors.
He said: βThe owners want to make more money because houses are now like diamonds in Ekosodin.
βThe buildingβs foundation and structure were not designed to support additional floors, leading to the collapse.
