More than 2,300 was arrested when the police intensified national hard action over crime

The Nigerian police have intensified their efforts to fight crime throughout the country, which leads to the arrest of more than 2,300 suspects in a series of operations carried out from February 2025 to the present.

Details of the arrest revealed that 602 was arrested for armed robbery, 385 for kidnapping, 557 for murder or murder, 215 due to possession of firearms that violated the law, 286 for rape, and 276 suspects of Kultus.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Monday, Muyiwa Public Relations officers Adejobi highlighted the scale of hard action, emphasizing the recovery of a large number of firearms, ammunition, and stolen vehicles.

“Focusing on operations carried out from February 2025 to date, the Nigerian police have made great progress in combating crime throughout the country. Many arrests were made in connection with various heinous crimes,” Adejobi said.

He gave further details about police achievement, noted the recovery of 333 firearms, 6,422 rounds of ammunition of various Kalibre, and 200 stolen vehicles. In addition, 324 kidnapped victims were rescued during this operation.

Adejobi added, “on display in today’s briefing are some exhibitions that are connected to this crime, including 89 rounds of ammunition of various Kalibre, six AK-47 rifles, one AK-49 rifle, one Israeli pump action rifle, two pump-acid rifles, and one single barrel rifle.” “

Among the significant breakthroughs, Adejobi highlighted the arrest of eight kidnappers suspected at the Kogi-Edo border.

The suspects, who were identified as Tukur Salisu, Sani Abubakar, Mamud Sani, Umar Abdullahi, Salisu Mohammed, Salisu Usman, Bashir Audu, and Jibril Haruna, were detained after confrontation of violence with police operators.

“On 11/3/2025 around 1830, the operation of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) on the way to Edo’s state of special tasks in Oshara Ganden, the boundary between Kogi and Edo States, met with an ambush by the kidnappers,” Adejobi explained.
