Equinix, Inc., a digital infrastructure company, has officially opened its latest data center expansion in Lagos. Called LG2.3, this facility will support Nigerian digital transformation efforts that are developing, providing colocation and interconnection solutions to empower businesses throughout the region.
As part of the inauguration, Bruce Owen, President Emea in Equinix, along with other Equinix executives, led the ribbon slaughtering ceremony at a newly expanded location. In addition to official visits to the Governor of the State Lagos,
Equinix hosted the exclusive customer involvement event, uniting customers and the main partners of the Nigerian business and technology sector. The participants discussed joint success and the role of Equinix in facilitating digital transformation while also directly connected to Bruce Owen for insight about how Equinix solutions encourage innovation and business agility in the region.

Speaking of expansion, Bruce Owen, President Emea in Equinix, said, “Nigeria is an important market for Equinix. The current opening is a clear demonstration of our sustainable commitment to invest in and the increase in digital infrastructure that will benefit thousands of businesses in Nigeria and in the continent as a whole.
Adding to this, Wole Abu, the Director of the West African Equinix Implementing, highlighted the important role of the data center in encouraging economic growth, stated, “Data centers continue to play an important role in encouraging economic development in Nigeria, functioning as a critical infrastructure that supports digital transformation and economic growth.
” When the government and the company increasingly recognize their significance, global demand for the capacity of the data center is ready to increase. While African demand for data solutions is still developing compared to more mature markets, this continent shows the strong potential for digital adoption and innovation. To meet this greater needs, Equinix actively advances three main data center projects in Nigeria, with future expansion plans for Ghana, Ivory Coast, and South Africa. “
