Governor Zamfara, Lawal, denied the abduction victims who claimed to be his sister (video)

The Governor of the State of Zamfara, Dauda Lawal, has denied claims by two kidnapped victims who told their kidnappers that they were their younger siblings.

The two men were seen in the video shared on the social media platform on Tuesday being interrogated by their kidnappers and claiming that they were related to the governor.

In the video recording, two hooded armed men were heard interrogating the victims and asked them whether they were related to the governor they answered affirmatively that they were indeed older blood brothers.

The armed people then instructed the people to contact the governor to release money to facilitate their freedom, with the threat of killing them if the governor failed to pay a ransom.

A human rights activist, Mahdi Shehu, has also increased the problem when he posted on the x handle @shehu_mahdi, insinuating that those people were actually older brothers.

Furthermore Mahdi asked questions about whether the Governor would continue to negotiate with a criminal gang to free his brother or he would use a ransom to free men.

“The younger brother directly from the Governor of the State of Zamfara, Dauda Lawal was kidnapped and in the detention of the kidnappers,” Mahdi wrote.

Asking a few painful questions, he continued:

“Will Dauda be lawal negotiating with a criminal bro

“Will he pay the money that is sued, that big?

“Will he look for Mattawalle’s support? Or help?

“Can he shrink to APC for his brother so that the federal government can exert its strength?

“Will he cancel their bluff, sacrifice his brother and move against them with full force?

“Will the high northern politicians learn lessons from this situation in Zamfara that both they and their relations are not safe by the way they make other citizens unsafe?

“Maybe if the kidnapping industry refers to the trade to the high and mighty, actions that can be followed up to overcome this problem might occur?”

But when reacting to the video, Governor Lawal insisted that the men were not related to him. The old that made this known in a statement by his spokesman, Sulaiman Bala Idris, described the incident as “new tactics by Bandits to get attention and increase the morals of sagging from their members.”

“After watching the video clip critically, people can see how depressed the abduction victims are. I believe this is a new format adopted by the bandits. However, there are no abduction victims related to the governor,” Idris said.

“The governor only has one sibling, a woman. However, the government is currently taking steps to ensure the safety of victims and reunite them with their families,” he added.
