NSCDC thwarts teenage trafficking plot to Libya

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has rescued a 15-year-old girl from suspected human traffickers in Abuja.

NSCDC spokesperson in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Monica Ojobi, disclosed this in a statement on Friday in Abuja.

Ojobi said the girl was rescued from the 46-year-old suspect who allegedly detained her for two weeks in Kwali without her consent.

He said the operation followed a missing person report submitted by the victim’s mother on Kwali’s orders.

“Preliminary investigations show that the victim was suspected of being sexually assaulted while in the suspect’s custody.

“Further interrogation revealed the suspect’s plan to traffic the minor to Libya for child labor before he was intercepted,” the spokesperson added.
