ABS Ilorin FC visits condolences to Gaa Akanbi FC on the death of Umar Faruq

ABS Ilorin FC on Saturday paid a condolence visit to Gaa Akanbi FC following the death of their player, Umar Faruq, and also participated in the Fidau prayer held in his honour.

The club was represented by its head of media, Tosh Michaels, who visited the family residence of the deceased at Agbefe Compound, Alagbede, Ilorin, to commiserate with his parents, relatives and members of Gaa Akanbi FC.

Umar Faruq, a promising football talent from Gaa Akanbi FC, was widely regarded as one of the brightest young football prospects in Kwara State. Before his untimely passing on Thursday after a short illness, the youngster was on the books of the NPFL’s Shooting Stars Sports Club.

During the visit, ABS Ilorin FC expressed deep sadness at the loss of the young footballer, describing his death as a painful blow not only to his family and Gaa Akanbi FC, but also to the entire football community in Kwara State.

The club noted that Umar Faruq’s dedication, talent and passion for the game made him a player with a bright future ahead of him, adding that his passing away has left a huge void in the hearts of his teammates, coaches and football lovers.

ABS Ilorin FC expressed its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased, Gaa Akanbi FC, and all those affected by the loss, while praying for Allah’s mercy on his soul and strength for his loved ones to bear the irreparable loss.

“On behalf of the management, technical team, players and fans of ABS Ilorin FC, we extend our deepest condolences to the family of Umar Faruq and the entire Gaa Akanbi FC family. May Allah Almighty forgive his shortcomings, grant him Aljanah Firdaus and console all those he left behind,” the club said.

Fidau’s prayer was attended by family, friends, football stakeholders and supporters who gathered to pray for the peaceful repose of the late footballer’s soul.
