Coal City Blazers have started their 2026 Nigeria Basketball Premier League season on a winning note after defeating Edo Beads 74-58 in their opening match at the Benin Center on the first day of the competition.

The match, which was the second match of the day, saw the Coal City Blazers effectively execute their game plan against an Edo Beads team that struggled to convert several scoring opportunities.

Coal City took control of key moments of the game, taking advantage of missed opportunities and defensive errors from Edo Beads to build a comfortable lead.

Despite flashes of brilliance from Edo Beads, the Enugu team maintained their composure throughout the match and dominated both ends of the pitch to secure victory by 16 points.

The result gives the Coal City Blazers an early boost in the race for a strong start to the 2026 NPBL season.
