EPL: Manchester United beat Liverpool 3-2 to secure their place in the UCL

Manchester United produced a superlative performance on Sunday to beat Liverpool 3-2 in one of the day’s English Premiership matches, and secure a place in next season’s Champions League.

Manchester United midfielder Kobie Mainoo scored the winning goal in the 77th minute of Sunday’s drama at Old Trafford.

United had taken the lead thanks to Cunha’s goal in the sixth minute. Michael Carrick’s men doubled their lead in the 14th minute with a goal from Benjamin Sesko.

Liverpool came out stronger in the second half and scored two goals in 9 minutes with goals from Dominik Szoboszlai and Cody Gakpo in the 47th and 56th minutes. But Kobbie Mainoo’s goal in the 77th minute secured all three points.

The victory moved United into third place on 64 points with three games remaining, sealing a place in the Champions League for next season after a two-year absence.

Liverpool, fourth in the table, are still fighting for a place in the Champions League.

With 58 points, Arne Slot’s men are level on points with fifth-placed Aston Villa, who have a game in hand.
