The federal government declared on Thursday 12 June 2025, as a public holiday to commemorate the celebration of this year’s democracy day.
The Minister of the Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government in a declaration signed by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, permanent secretary of the Ministry, Sunday.
While congratulating the Nigerians on this occasion of 26 years of uninterrupted civil domain, he said: “On June 12 it represents our historical journey for the construction of a nation in which the kingdom and peace of truth and justice are supported and our future is insured.

“The last 26 years tell the story of our resilience, strength and courage and renewed hope that never.”
Noting that democracy is supported with open doors for a further improvement, the minister reiterated the commitment of the “renewed hope” of the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the universal value of democracy that is based on the freely express will of the people in determining the political, economic, social and cultural systems of Nigeria.
