FIFA approves Normalization Committee to lead Nigerian football

The FIFA Council Bureau on Thursday approved the appointment of a Normalization Committee to manage the affairs of the Nigerian Football Federation, pending fresh elections to the NFF Executive Committee.

According to a letter signed by FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafström and addressed to Dr. Emmanuel Ikpeme MON, “the normalization committee will be composed of an appropriate number of members, who will be jointly appointed by FIFA and CAF as soon as possible.”

The letter also reported that “the period during which the normalization committee will perform its functions will expire as soon as it has fulfilled all its tasks, but no later than May 31, 2027.” None of the members of the normalization committee will be eligible for the positions to be filled during the upcoming NFF elections under any circumstances.

Meanwhile, the NFF Secretariat will continue with the daily management of the organization and administration of football in the country pending the appointment of the Normalization Committee.
