First-term APC governors recognize the sacrifices made by Nigerians during the economic adjustment

First term Governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have commended Nigerians for persevering despite hardships during the period of economic adjustment.

This was contained in a statement released on Wednesday after their meeting in Kebbi State.

The governors said they supported national stability, continuity of reforms and inclusive development under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The host governor, Comrade Nasir Idris, who read the statement in Birnin Kebbi, further recognized that families, workers, farmers, traders, transporters, youth, women and vulnerable citizens have all felt the brunt of the current realities.

“Let us not ignore these difficulties. Leadership requires truth, and the truth is that Nigeria is undergoing a much-needed correction after years of accumulated fiscal, security, productivity and development challenges.

“We are convinced that the reforms undertaken by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are necessary to stabilize the economy, restore public finances, attract investment, strengthen national productivity, expand infrastructure, strengthen food security and ensure a more sustainable future for the Nigerian people,” he said.

Governor Idris made it clear that the first term governors’ support for President Tinubu was not just based on politics, but on the belief that Nigeria required bold leadership, political continuity, stronger collaboration between federal states and a development path that rewards manufacturing, enterprise, agriculture, innovation and hard work.

“Consequently, we declare our full support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the continuation of the Renewed Hope Agenda beyond 2027.

“We make this declaration as a commitment to national recovery, shared prosperity, democratic stability and the protection of the Nigerian federation.

“We believe in national unity, calling on Nigerians from all regions, religions and communities to look beyond temporary hardship and consider the bigger national picture.

“The question is not whether the journey has been difficult, it has been difficult; the real question is whether Nigeria should abandon reform midway or stay the course, fix what needs fixing, expand aid for the vulnerable and allow the foundations to be laid to produce lasting results.”
