The Federal Government of Nigeria has condemned Israel’s preventive strike on Iran, warning that the growing hostilities between the two nations represent a serious threat to regional and global peace.

Tensions in the Middle East reached a boiling point on Friday following the extraordinary military operations of Israel who aim for Iran’s nuclear structures and long -haul missionistic skills.

Air attacks triggered a wave of retaliation missiles and air attacks, increasing fears of a wider regional conflict.

While Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the operation as a “targeted military action to restore the Iranian threat to the survival of Israel”, Nigeria expressed deep concern for spiral violence.

In a declaration issued on Saturday by Kimiebi Ebienfa, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nigeria condemned the Israeli action and urged both sides to show moderation.

The declaration stated: “The government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria condemns the preventive strike of Israel Sul Iran, which led to an escalation of hostility between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the state of Israel, marked with missiles and air exchanges supported in both territories.

“Nigeria expresses its serious concern and requires immediate termination of hostilities. We exhort both sides to exercise maximum moderation in the interest of regional and global peace.”

The declaration warned that the continuous retaliation attacks not only endanger civil life, but risk destabilizing the wider Middle East, with vast implications for global safety and economic stability.

Reaffirming the commitment of Nigeria for peaceful coexistence and multilateral diplomacy, the Ministry said: “We ask all the subjects involved in giving priority to the dialogue on comparison”.

Nigeria has also urged the international community, in particular the United Nations Security Council intensify the efforts for immediate de-Escalation and create platforms for the constructive commitment between the parts in war.

“The path to lasting peace lies in diplomacy, in mutual respect and in adhesion to international law. Nigeria is ready to support all authentic efforts aimed at reducing tensions and promoting peace in the region”, added the declaration.
