Ogun FIBAN praises sweet 107.1FM at 10, hails impact on broadcasters

The Ogun State chapter of the Association of Independent and Independent Broadcasters of Nigeria has congratulated Sweet 107.1 FM on its 10th anniversary, describing the milestone as a reflection of resilience, innovation and unwavering commitment to quality broadcasting.

In a statement signed by the state president, Olalekan Shoyinka, and issued by the publicity secretary, Olusoji Akindiya, the association commended the owner, Olugbenga Obadara, the executive director, Eddy Aina, and the management and staff of the station for what it described as a decade of impactful service.

FIBAN described the station as Nigeria’s most leadership and entrepreneurship focused radio platform, noting that its establishment marked a turning point in the broadcasting landscape in Ogun State.

The association said the station, over the years, has stood out for its innovative programming, capacity building and promotion of leadership and entrepreneurial values.

He particularly praised the channel for providing opportunities for freelance and independent broadcasters to develop and showcase their talents at a time when access to broadcast platforms was limited.

According to the statement, many professionals who have benefited from the platform have become important voices in the media industry.

“Sweet 107.1FM has opened the airwaves to many broadcasters who previously faced marginalization and limited opportunities. Its emergence has, in many ways, been a form of liberation for independent professionals,” the statement read.

FIBAN also recognized what it described as the station’s role in creating an inclusive and mutually beneficial media ecosystem that has continued to thrive over the years.

The association, which identified itself as a key stakeholder in the station’s growth, expressed appreciation for the opportunities offered to its members, especially during the first years of operation.

While noting that the last decade has posed significant challenges for media organizations,

FIBAN said the station had demonstrated resilience, surviving difficulties that forced many outlets to close.

He attributed this stability in part to the leadership of Aina, whose experience and direction, it was said, had been instrumental in sustaining the station.

The group also praised Obadara for investing in a media platform focused on leadership discourse and entrepreneurship, saying the initiative contributed to social development.

FIBAN has urged the station to uphold professionalism, ethical standards and innovation in its programming as it enters a new decade.

It also reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening its partnership with the station to advance broadcasting and support media workers in the State.

“Sweet 107.1FM has set a standard in the industry. We encourage management to remain consistent in providing quality content that informs, educates and inspires audiences,” the statement added.
