Opposition parties’ lack of seriousness will not allow Nigerians to replace Tinubu in 2027 – Former APC chief, Lukman – TrendyNewsReporters

A former National Vice President (North West) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Salihu Mohammed Lukman, has said that if opposition parties fail to wrest power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027, it will mean the end of the country. In a statement released, Lukman said it was worrisome that opposition parties that are discussing uniting to wrest power from the ruling party have yet to “move to structured political commitments on the platforms of any of the existing opposition political parties.” Recall that leaders of some opposition parties have hinted that they plan to unite to oust the APC-led government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, following the spate of killings, kidnappings, hunger, poverty and general insecurity in the country. Lukman in his letter wrote: “It is quite appalling, for instance, that the PDP leaders are antagonistic to Alh. Atiku Abubakar, Mr. Peter Obi is in the midst of a leadership battle for helpless survival in the LP and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is overseeing a directionless NNPP whose roof has been torn to pieces by none other than its so-called leaders. And all other parties including SDP and PRP have adopted monarchical behavior, sitting in their comfort zones waiting for disgruntled and aggrieved opposition political leaders to turn to them for some “royal” cover. All this has helped embolden President Asiwaju Tinubu and his APC, insensitive and thoughtless decisions, which further worsen the living conditions of the citizens are being taken on a daily basis. The reality is that if no structured engagement based on a strategic initiative to develop an alternative political platform, geared towards the altruistic disposition of the citizens, has commenced by the end of December 2024, then the opposition political leaders, simply means that any opposition to the APC and President Asiwaju Tinubu in 2027 will be based on personal ambitions. of individual political leaders. If that is the case, the risk of producing a worse government than the current one would be high. Regardless of whether the government is led by Alh. Atiku Abubakar, Mr. Peter Obi, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso or any of the orphaned leaders of the APC, any successor government that emerges based on the personal ambition of political leaders would risk being worse.”
